1.Leave the ego at home

Listen and learn from those with more experience than you. Recruitment is about getting the obvious and simple right! You should also look into getting a mentor.

2.Networking

Networking is important if you are a recruiter. Join groups on LinkedIn relevant to your interests and education. This will help you maximise your network and connect with professionals in your field. Use Facebook and Twitter as well to connect with other successful people in the industry. Also, try attending networking events in your local area.

3. Ask for help

Don’t be afraid to ask for advice from your colleagues. Each person will have their own way of doing things, so you will get different tips, which is always a good thing if you are just starting out in the recruitment industry.

4. Socialising 

Socialising with colleagues will help you get a better understanding of the industry. But have some self-control and don’t over do it! On your first social, remain cool, don’t go overboard and get drunk and make a fool of yourself.

If you lack experience it can be scary and it can hold you back in the beginning. You may be feeling nervous about communicating with potential clients or candidates. But don’t worry! In your first few weeks, develop your confidence by calling smaller clients and developing relationships.
