Ace your next job interview with these tips.
Good preparation is essential to a successful job interview. If you take the time to prepare, it could make all the difference to whether or not you get the job. Here are some things that will help you to prepare for your interview and help to set you apart from other candidates.
Research the organisation
This is going to help you stand out from the rest of the less prepared candidates. How big is the company? Who is interviewing you? What is their position in the marketplace and what is their reputation? You can speak to your recruitment consultant they can tell you information that might be useful.
Prepare your responses
Most interviews will involve behavioural and CV based questions. Here’s a list of questions you should know off by heart. If you need help preparing responses for interview questions, you can contact one of our consultants.
Have some questions ready
This is also your chance to find out about the company, so it’s always best to have some questions ready. It is also a good way to find out if the company will be the right fit for you. Make sure you ask relevant questions about the company. Avoid salary/benefits based questions. Your recruitment consultant can negotiate and will get you the best offer possible. Be strategic and ask questions not discussed. Avoid asking for information that can be found on the company’s website.
Plan what to bring
- You should print off extra copies of your CV and take a couple just in case (Be prepared to answer questions about your experience as stated in your CV)
- Bring a notepad and a pen
- A list of your references
- A portfolio with samples of your work, if relevant
If you know you’re going to be asked to sit a test it would be worth doing a bit of revision.
