Business Intelligence Engineer (6-Month Contract)

Location: London, UK (1 day a week onsite) Day Rate: £550-600 inside IR35

The Company:

A multi-national insurance company at the forefront of technological innovation. Having already entirely eliminated on-prem solutions, the business are currently undergoing a significant data migration project, moving their data from Azure Synapse to Snowflake.

To support this transformative journey, we are looking for a talented and experienced Business Intelligence Engineer to join a dynamic team on a 6-month contract basis.

Job Description:

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will play a critical role in the data migration project, where your expertise in Azure Synapse, Snowflake, SSRS reports, and Power BI dashboards will be put to the test. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial services, coupled with extensive experience in refactoring SSRS reports and writing complex SQL queries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of data engineers, DevOps engineers, QA specialists, a Project Manager, and a Business Analyst to support the successful data migration.
  • Refactor existing reports and dashboards to ensure compatibility with Snowflake and optimize their performance.
  • Design and develop complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and load data into Snowflake.
  • Work closely with the Business Analyst to understand data requirements and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Maintain and enhance existing SSRS reports and Power BI dashboards.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team to solve complex data-related challenges.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency throughout the migration process.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Azure Synapse, Snowflake, SSRS, and Power BI.
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to write and optimize complex queries.
  • Experience with data migration and refactoring projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams.
  • A commitment to data quality, accuracy, and security.
